about

Bottle of Evil is a project between two Lanarkshire musicians, Derek Bates (Evil Hand) and Steven McGilvary (Bottle of Steven).

This is the follow up to 2010s debut album, and was recorded between Carluke (Scotland) and Galway (Ireland).

"Bottle of Evil is an exercise in smashing genre norms (if you insist, we'll bill it 'shoegaze-folk' and call it even). It's a mix which creates something at once dreamy, deliberate and - perhaps - just a little bit sinister." Scotsman Radar Prize runners up 2011: Lisa-Marie Ferla

"It shows glimpses of a much darker, more sinister side, in amongst the delicate, swooning refrain. So to sum up, it's pretty brilliant, and as EPs go, I've not heard a better one all year." Kowalskiy

"Dream-wave ambient at its VERY BEST." The Sirens Sound

"This EP manages to cover more ground, and touch on more potential future directions than most bands manage in a full-length recording." Songs Heard On Fast Trains

"this is the most interesting take on the current vogue for the music known as folk that I have heard for some time. I would imagine that they like their rock 'post' and occasionally gaze at their shoes, a position I often adopt myself. They certainly make great music while doing so." Scots Whay Hae

Dave Frew plays drums on I Can See Your Face and Collider.
Steve Houston plays guitar on The Boatman.
Dougie Frew plays cahon on The Boatman.

Also included in the download is the video for I Can See Your Face, shot by Ben Cottin of SuperB Productions.
